The safety of focused ultrasound has been demonstrated in a variety of animal models including in patients. Below are references to different studies demonstrating safety:
- Studies in small & large animals have shown that FUS +MB is repeatable and safe.
- Successful BBB opening have occurred in mice, rabbits, rats, monkeys, and pigs.
- In humans, both long-term and short-term studies have reported safety of BBB opening.
